After World War II, there were some major fashion changes. The 1940s silhouette had wide shoulders and a short skirt, but the 1950s styles were hourglass in shape (a fitted body with small shoulders, a small waistline, a full skirt and higher heels). Though the styles changed pretty drastically from the beginning of the decade to the end of the decade, there were quite a few fashion staples.
